The town is particularly famous for its ski resorts and winter events, earning the title of the Winter Capital of Estonia. Otepää and its surroundings offer visitors excellent opportunities for winter sports, including skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and hiking. Otepää is also known for organizing ski marathons, the Sauna Marathon, and other sports events that bring together athletes and fitness enthusiasts from Estonia and beyond.
